In the 1950s, a group of 70 emigrants from Cariati, Calabria, came to Germany. After a little research we were able to find out that these were the first guest workers in the Rems-Murr district.
Some found work in Waiblingen, at the Schoffer company. Others moved to Achern or Offenburg to work on construction sites. From the deep blue sea and a sky full of stars to a brickyard.
Many of them returned after a few years, some stayed, others never returned to their hometown on the Ionian Sea.
All these people were fishermen, and we are the children of these fishermen, from whom we learned about the sea, but especially the cuisine of the sea. In the past this was a poor kitchen, but today it is something special. A unique cuisine that you will not find anywhere else. This is the story of Il Pescatore.
